Does shutter speed matter for DSLR video? Seems to only change exposure?

Shooting on manual mode w/ Nikon D7000 I'm unable to change the aperture- why?

Changing shutter speed doesn't appear to change the speed of the video only the exposure. Results look the same at 1/30 1/50 1/500 Why?

Because the video only records in 24 FPS or 30 FPS.

Shutter speed strictly controls the… SHUTTER SPEED! During the shooting of video the shutter stays open no matter what and your speed doesn't matter.

About the aperture thing there has to be some way you can change it, you must be doing something wrong. Check your manual.

Now about the shutter speed it does matter for DSLR video, not just for the exposure. Now shutter speed and frames per second are two different things, when it comes to fps there are some basic options it can be 24 fps which is standard for cinema, 30 fps which is used for tv or 60 fps which you can use for slow motion for example. That's if your camera is set for NTSC. Now the shutter speed… The slowest shutter speed you can use for example when shooting at 30 fps should be 1/30, that's not the standard tho, you can use it either if you've got very bad lighting or if you want some blurry effect on the video, if it has fast movements. The standard is always twice the fps speed, so if you're shooting at 30 fps you should use 1/60 for shutter speed, or you can always go as fast as you want, which you might wanna do if you're shooting stuff moving really really fast and don't want a blurry video, tho its really hard to notice… And well just as a curious data… 5.6 is usually the standard aperture used when filming.
