Do I need to pay tax if i want to delivery my UK bought camera back to UK?

I used to bought a Nikon D90 SLR camera in Argos Liverpool, and once when I went back to my country, China, I left it home. Now I want my parents to send it back to me. The question is: since this camera was bought in UK (I don't know if the receipt is in the box but it definitely has a UK MPN), do I need to pay tax when it went through custom clearance? Thanks guys.

Added (1). Thank you Mike for your answer, but if I'm going to take it back myself I won't bother asking a question here, the problem is I'm currently in England, and the camera needs to be delivered from China to me, I wonder if I need to explain this to UK custom to get a tax exempt.

No you don't, a lots of people who go on holiday take cameras when they travel oversea.uk tax has already been paid on it.

Without evidence you need the british bureaucracy to think about registration and numbers. They will do the simple thing and charge.

The postal / courier service collects the money on behalf of HMRC. They have no power to make any exception - so I believe you will have to pay.

Check with HMRC.

If it was bought in the UK there will be no custom charges to pay. The sender needs to make that clear on the customs declaration.

There shouldn't be any problems in any event. You are entitled to import personal belongings (up to limit) tax free, and there's a specific exemption if you only intend being here for a temporary purpose.
