Best tips to photograph macro with nikon d5100?
Will the 18-55mm Nikon lens work well with like close up and macro? Like getting a picture of a bug or something small?
Don't know!
No, the 18-55mm lens is not a macro lens - it won't focus very close.
You need to use either a macro filter (cheap, but poor image quality), a set of extension tubes (medium price option), a reversing ring on your lens (can be fiddly) or the best quality option (but most expensive) is a true (1:1), dedicated macro lens.
No you need a true macro lens or extension tubes if you get these get the more expensive ones with the contacts so you still retain TTL metering
You CAN use the 18-55mm, but only if you use a reversing ring…
or get a macro lens - 105mm would be best…
You CAN use the 18-55mm, but only if you use a reversing ring.
