Any reviews on the metz 44 AF-1?

I have a nikon d5100. Does the metz 44 AF-1 works on it? Any drawbacks for using non nikon accessories to nikon? Does it properly mount?

The Nikon version of the Metz 44 AF-1 digital should work nicely, be sure to check it's the N(ikon)-AF version since Metz also caters for numerous other camera brands. Metz is a very reputable brand, and very popular as an alternative with professional and amateur photographers alike. Apart from buying an original Nikon flash, a Metz flash would be one of my first considerations if I needed a new flash.

I'm a Nikon DSLR user, but use a Metz flash similar to the 44 AF-1 on my Canon compact camera which I use as a back-up. It works perfectly, has never given me any problem and offers all the features I'd expect from an equivalent, original Canon flash at a much friendlier price.
