A new Nikon SLR Camera?

Norma

I currently have a Nikon D3000. I've had it for about two years and I'm about ready to upgrade.

I know the D3000 is a beginners camera, it's why I got it, but now I want a camera with better zoom and more features. I'm aware that I can just get a new lens but I want a new body and lens. I've had practice with better camera's then mine already so I'm not worried about getting a upgrade and not knowing what it can do. I just want recommendation's so I can do more research and then decide.

Do you recommend anything? My price range is anywhere from $800-$1, 500.

I bought it because I use to have the D3100

With that budget, I'd go for the D7000.
The D5100 as mentioned above is nice too, but it's still considered an entry-level dSLR just like the D3000 so it wouldn't be much of an upgrade.

First… DSLRs do NOT have "zoom". That is dependent on the lenses.

Second, I prefer to get a camera that has LESS "features". Sorry, all I want is ISO, aperture, and shutter speed.

If I was in your shoes, I would be working on a lens collection until I could afford a D3x.

The Nikon D90 and D7000 would be the viable upgrades

Make sure with the new body you will start investing into lenses, because you'll see that's what matters. But it's of course nice to upgrade the body to get new stuff, and your D3000 for it's time was so-so compared to competition.

There's a Niko D5100, D90 and D7000. If you're thinking about Canon you also have 60D, but since you're used to their menu you should stick to Nikon unless you wanna try something different.

I'd go with the D7000, but the D5100 will be just fine if you're looking for something excellent in a slightly bigger body than D3000.

D7000.

It has more advanced features than the D3100 or D5100, which are still entry level cameras. In my view, they are not enough of a step up from your D3000.
