Canon a-1 or Nikon FM3a?

I want to buy a film SLR because they look cool and I think they teach us to be better than we're in photography.
I looked online and i found a Nikon FM3a for $175, and a Canon a-1 for $215
the Nikon comes with only the 35-70mm lens
the Canon comes with 35-105mm and a 50mm(I'm assuming the 50 is f/1.4 or 1.8), a flash, and a bag.
Knowing I'm a Canon 550D and 350D owner, what do you think is a better buy?
I know it might seem a bit too expensive, but i live in Dubai and these where the best i could find.

Nikon FM3a by a mile. The FM3a is a much newer camera believe it or not and has the benefit of using a lens mount that hasn't been orphaned by its manufacturer. So if you chose to do so, you could use almost any Nikon lens made since 1959 on the Nikon FM3a, including modern autofocus lenses. The newest "G" lenses lack an aperture ring so they'd have to be shot wide open but, all other earlier AF, AF-I, and AF-D lenses would work just fine as would any AI/AI-s manual focus lens. The FM3a also has a much higher flash sync speed of 1/250th of a second compared to 1/60th on the Canon.

With the Canon A-1, you're stuck with FD/FL mount lenses that are not compatible with your current Canon EOS cameras and the camera doesn't. Since we're talking about used cameras that haven't been in production for some time, I'm going to suggest an an alternative that will likely cost the same or less than either of these options. It's also an option that gives you compatibility with your existing cameras. Specifically, you could look at a 35mm film EOS body from the early 2000s or late 1990s. Cameras in the same price range include the Canon EOS 3 which at the time of it's introduction was designed for use by professionals and advanced amateurs. You might also look at at the EOS 300 which you could probably find for less than $75 today and pickup a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 to go with it and still come in under $175. Your existing Canon 550D and 350D can use any Canon EF lens so any lens you buy for an EOS 3 or EOS 300, is also compatible with your current digital cameras.

I'm going to say neither!

As a 550D and 350D owner you should go for a Canon EOS film camera so you can use your Canon EF lenses. (NB not EF-S lenses). Ditto any lens that is bundled with your film camera will work on your DSLR bodies.

That aside for $215 I would be expecting an A-1 that is in pretty special condition with a recent full service! The A-1 wasn't a great camera! Good but not great.

Nikon FM3 has a mechanical shutter so if the batteries run out it can still be used, but with the meter.

Good, valid answers so far even they are not similar.

If you get the Canon A1, you won't' be able to use the FD lens(es) on current Canon cameras. With the Nikon FM3, you will be able to (at least mount the lens) on the current Nikon cameras.

However, to learn exposure, it's best with FM2 / FM3 because of the LCD that you can see when you're on, over or under. I believe Canon uses a needle system which is more difficult to view.

In my opinion you can buy the Nikon COOLPIX L120 camera is a winner! The settings, user-interface, the sleek design and the nifty zoom selector on the lens barrel makes this camera worth every penny. In the short time I have owned it, I have already taken approximately 1, 200 photos with it; everything from nature, bridges, even the sun! (with a solar filter, of course). And with its fantastic 21x optical zoom, I can photograph a car at more than a quarter-mile away and be able to clearly read its license plate!
