Can a Canon L series lens be attached to a NIkon camera body?
Can a Canon L series lens be attached to a NIkon camera body?
Added (1). Thanks everyone. My camera just broke and the only one i may be able to borrow from my school is a nikon unless i can get access to the canons and i want to use my canon macro lens with it.
Not without the use of adapters
you will lose autofocus, several stops of light, and there probably will be metering problems.
This is why it is generally not a good idea to mix camera systems. If you have a nikon camera, you get lenses made with a nikon mount. If you have a canon system, you get lenses made with a canon mount
If you already own Canon L Series lenses, it would be much better to stick with a compatible Canon body. See this link about the Canon L lenses.

The Dr.above is right about matching lens and body to one manufacturer. With modern digital SLR's there are many features which make photography a new and exciting adventure. The only way to obtain the features is by using the matching lenses. (Some other lenses, from other manufacturers such as Sigma and Tamron also make lenses matched to various bodies.)
I have a Nikon body with only Nikon lenses that mate with it. I sold all my film lenses which were unable to take advantage of what the body could do.
Instruction manuals and specifications for bodies usually tell you which lenses are compatible.
No. Even with adapters you'd get lousy results. The other way around is easier, has something to do with the distance between the sensor and the back of the lens and the diameter.
