Camera with manual adjustments?

This is probably a Stupid Question, Haha but I know NOTHING about cameras!

A camera with manual adjustments and at least 3 megapixels.

Is that just a regular digital camera like a Canon PowerShot SD1200IS? (That's what I have)?
Or is it the more professional cameras like a Nikon?

You will need a dSLR like a Nikon D3100 or Canon 500D/T1i. Both have manual adjustments and sensors with far more than 3mp.

Where did you get those requirements?

There are some old, old dSLR's from the beginning of 2001 that had just under 6 mp sensors, but most have from 10 to 18 mp sensors

NOTE: Pixel information.

What is you budget?

I like Fuji cameras, because they stand behind them and I have never had a problem.
Fuji has an extensive line of cameras in your category. But I would like to recommend some features to look for and it is up to you if can afford it.
1. Get a camera with at least a 5x zoom. Most cameras have a 3x believe me you will grow out of a 3x zoom in a week.
2. Get a camera with at least 5 mega pixels.
3. Keep all the paperwork, instruction book, guarantee card (do not fill out!) clean-Do Not mark in it. Of course the box, too! In case you want to return the camera.
4. Set the camera for the least number or smallest number of pictures for the memory card you have in the camera.
5. Spend $4 dollars and get a 11 x14 or even less money for a 8 x 10 made the first week of ownership. You don't have to love the picture, but you do need to test the camera's quality.
6. If you like the quality. Keep the camera, otherwise you only have the camera a few days and it looks like you just bought it-took it out to the car- then changed your mind and brought it back for a refund. Buy from a Target, Walmart, Amazon, etc.

All the adjustments or settings can found in a dSLR camera regardless of brand and model.
