Best memory card for my nikon?
Looking for new memory cards for my Nikon. I have upcoming weddings and i've heard you can get good memory cards but i forgot what people said now so i figured i'd ask on here.
SanDisk or Kingston. Don't buy large cards - 4-8GB is more then plenty, but buy lots of them. You shouldn't be shooting a wedding & putting all the pics on one card - if it fails youre screwed!
Do you have the gear/knowledge to shoot weddings? Because quite frankly, your question comes across a bit naive.
Ok so number 1! What camera have you got? Does it take cf (compact flash) or sdhc cards?
number 2! The speed of the memory card is worth considering. Obviously you don't need it lightning fast like sports photographers but you need a good read/write speed. This is measured by classes you can get a class 4,6 or 10 in sdhc cards. 10 is the fastest and 4 is the slowest. To be honest most sdhc cards are so cheap i would just go for a class 10 anyway. You can check what class by looking at the memory card and its the number with a circle around it.
number 3 what memory size! Well i would say go for 16gb. Well the reason for this is it makes you not lazy it makes you upload them after every shoot so you can back them up instead of leaving them on a sd card and then it breaking or being wiped. Also memory cards break pretty easy so its a good idea to have one or two if your at a wedding to avoid problems so you can just swap over your memory card.
so for a class 10 16gb card i would be looking to spend about £20 at the most such as this on here. http://www.amazon.co.uk/...0037FLUYU/ (this is proberbly the ideal on to go for)
now onto cf cards they come in higher memory sizes usually but their speed is measured another was in mb/s which is its read speed and pretty much of these are fast enough for weddings unless you want amazing performance then you would have to pay more but this would be the cf card i would buy personally if you have a cf slot http://www.amazon.co.uk/...002NO8PTY/
