Best lens for a Nikon D4S?
Make a long story short - My stepmom bought my day (hobby dog photographer) a Nikon D4S for his birthday and now wants to go buy him 2 lens when she found out it was body only. And she's leaving it to me (clueless) to pick out the 2 lenses.
What's lenses do you think he would like? His old camera is a Nikon D5200 which a 18-55 lens, 55-300 lens, & 50mm lens. Can't he just use those? I'm so lost… Help!
Compatible Lenses
AF NIKKOR lenses, including type G, E, and D lenses (some restrictions apply to PC lenses) and DX lenses, AI-P NIKKOR lenses, and non-CPU AI lenses (exposure modes A and M only).
So, yes, those DX lenses will work.
Those DX lenses will only work at a reduced resolution. The 50mm will be fine but you probably want to look at the f/2.8 or f/4.0 zooms in the 24-70mm or 24-120mm and 70-200mm ranges. You might also consider getting him a flash like an SB-700 or SB-910.
You father can use the DX or FX lenses on his new camera. The camera will automatically adjust to the cropped sensor mode.
The two lenses he will use most shooting dog shows and portraits would be the Nikkor 24-70 mm f/2.8 and 70-200 mm f/2.8 lens
