Best focal length for video?
Hi, i'm planing to buy nikon d5200(aps-c) with 18-55 mm, prime lenses are sharper than zoom lenses so i'm intrested in buying 35 mm 1.8f or 50 mm1.8 (buying lense with camera also gives me discount)
my main porpose for dslr is video and occasional photography, so which focal length is better for video(i mean for over the shoulder, shallow dof, close ups, following subject and cinematic stuff!)
Those lenses will work just fine.
What you need to see is this. It shows how your various focal length lenses "see" (field of view).

Something you may not have thought about is using "follow focus" when shooting your video.
