I have a Panasonic DVX100A and a Redrock Micro 35mm adapter, and I was wondering what kind of lenses would be a good choice for this setup. Looking for an F mount Nikon Lens(its a nikon mount) with manual focus.

Short answer:

Nikon 50mm f1.4 manual focus lens
Nikon 35mm f2 manual focus lens
Nikon 85mm f1.8 manual focus lens
Nikon 80-200 f2.8 manual/auto focus zoom lens

Try keh.com, craigslist, or eBay to find older manual focus models.

Long answer:

Almost any Nikon F mount lens will work, but some work better than others for a 35mm lens adapter. Generally what you want to look for is the following:

- manual focus lenses (you can use auto focus, but since auto focus doesn't work, you'll be wasting your money on a feature you won't be using)

- fast, fixed aperture lenses. Fast means you look for numbers like f1.2, f1.4, f2, f2.8 as the maximum aperture. It allows more light to get through. "fixed aperture" means you do NOT want lenses that say "f3.5-5.6" This is only found on zoom lenses, and it means that depending on the focal length your maximum aperture may be different.

- generally fixed focal lengths (aka "prime lenses") are a better value and perform better than zooms, but either will work great. If you do get a zoom, look for older pro models, such as the Nikon 80-200 f2.8 zoom

- Avoid any kit lens that comes with a consumer model DSLR. They are generally lower quality and will not perform well.

- Avoid "G" type lenses. These do not have an aperture ring, and there's no way to adjust the aperture on a 35mm lens adapter.

Hope that helps
