From visiting the Nikon website, I can see that you will have to update your J1 firmware in order to use the FT-1 mount.

If by "handle" you mean a digital SLR battery grip, then no.

Handle as in battery grip? No. Those are designed to specifically fit a certain dSLR model only.

Not one that is made for a specific DSLR. But you can buy add-on grips which can be added to any camera which has a standard tripod screw socket. Such grips do not have any form of battery boost or shutter release, they are only for ease of holding the camera.
