Nikon or sony? Which one is better?

For a low budget digicam (7-8000) which one is better? I mean regarding image quality.

I think of the two- Nikon is definitely your best bet. Hands down.

Nikon all the way. The conversation is usually Nikon vs. Canon - Sony… They make good cameras but you get more bang for your buck with a Nikon. Nikon is a glass company which is why their lenses are incredible. Sony is out of the question.

Nikon is the best brand for camera.

Everyone will say Nikon because good marketing has made it a popular brand which is also used at the top level by a large proportion of professionals who do not use Canon.
But as with most things in life, it is not so simple. Sony make many of the sensors for other brands and they make highly competitive digicams too.

It is better to believe what you see with your own eyes and what your brain tells you.
Visit http://www.flikr.com and search for photos taken on the cameras of your choice by real people.
Then, once you have identified ones that you like, go and try them in a camera shop. It may be Nikon you end up preferring… Might be Olympus or Canon.

I'm a Sony A57 owner by choice and not in the least intimidated by those who prefer the 'Dark Side' top commercial brands
