Hey I'm Getting The "Nikon D7100" And The Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower Is Happening On The 28th Of July And The Perseids Meteor Shower Is Happening On The 12th Of August. What Are The Settings To Take Pictures Of The Events That Are Happening? To Make It Up To A Time-Lapse?

I never try to put people off photography… I don't think you are going about this the right way though.

Cameras aren't like toys where you just buy one and you'll be happy forever after… They are tools and you need to know how to use them…

If you know of a camera club that's local approach them and ask if they are shooting this event and maybe mention that you are interested and could do with some company and good advice… Even the art teacher at school or college might be able to point you in a decent direction or give you good advice.

The D7100 is a great camera… Buying one without understanding how to operate it properly… And expecting decent results in a time lapse of a meteor shower isn't just unrealistic i'd say you were 'delusional'.

Sorry for 'Tough Love'… It's the truth though.

Here is a tutorial on how to photograph meteors.

Assuming you are getting the 18-55mm kit lens with it, try these for starters - you'll need a tripod of course, and a remote release to trip the shutter without touching the camera.

ISO 400
aperture - f4
shutter speed 30secs
manual exposure mode
manual focus mode (focus on infinity)

You need to be in an area of minimal light pollution. When you get your camera, go out into the countryside & practice those settings.

I take 30 sec shots about 5 seconds apart and stack them to make either a time lapse or a 'star trails' shot using this free software;
