Nikon nikkor 35mm 1.8 vs sigma 30mm 1.4?

Any one own one of these 2?
which one would you recommend?

The 35mm (and certainly the 30mm) is too wide for portraits - you'll get distortion - as I believe I've already mentioned.

I have the Nikon 35mm 1.8 and find it to be very sharp, and an excellent portrait lens on a DX camera. On a DX (crop sensor) camera, the 35mm gives you the effective view of 52mm, pretty much a "standard" lens view from the old 35mm days. I find it very useful for full-length portraits. For a time, I was looking at the Sigma 30mm f/1.4, but reviews show it to be very slow focusing, so that changed my mind.

Another possibility would be the 50mm F/1.8G AF-S lens, and that gives you a 75mm viewpoint, just about the perfect portrait lens.

But I'm sure that on your camera the Nikon 35mm 1.8g will give you great results for a good price.
