How to use a old film SLR lens on a DSLR?

Recently I bought a Canon T4i, and I have the kit 18-55mm lens. Before I bought this, I had a old Nikon N50 (film). I realize that a Nikon lens won't work on a Canon body, but I just saw this adapter thing for a Nikon to Canon lens. So my question is will my Tamron 28-200mm Nikon lens work on my Canon T4i, and if so, what adapter do I need.

You will need the same adapter as you would for the Nikon lens. Assuming the tamron lens has a Nikon mount.

If you have an old lens that fits a Nikon camera, you needed to buy a Nikon dSLR. That is how cameras systems work.

If you have Canon lenses, you buy a Canon camera, etc.

The problem with adapters is that they make the camera fully manual and in most cases, the foreign lens (your Tamron) will not focus at infinity.

Yes, the adaptor will allow you to use your old lens on your new dSLR but it would take the fun out of it. If you really wanted to use your old lens then you should have bought a Nikon dSLR. It's not too late though. If your new camera is less than a week old, you can feign disgust with utmost disapproval and return the T4i back to the store and demand a replacement with a D3200. You do understand that your old Tamron will most probably function at full manual mode only with the D3200 (like with the T4i) without the benefit of a lightmeter. Bottom line? Ditch the old lens and buy yourself a cheap Holga lens to play with your new T4i or buy a secondhand Nikon D50 for your old Tamron.Me? I'd rather use the money for an external flashgun.
