I'm about to buy my first DSLR, advice please?

Later this week i'm planning on buying my first DSLR, unless something comes up it will be the Nikon D7100

i'm just looking for some tips from the pros, in particular with Nikon DSLR's

The D7100 is an excellent camera.

Some of my colleagues are using it until Nikon releases the professional APS-C sensored D400.

I'm waiting for the D400 using my D300 until that time.
