How is the Nikon D5100?

I need a nice camera for mostly art, and i need it for a few trips i'm going on soon. How is this cameras quality for the price and the features?

It is a great camera for the price. Its sensor performs nearly as well as the $1, 200 (without lens) D7000.

It also has an articulated LCD, so you can place the camera in odd positions and while in live view, see what you are shooting.

With the Nikon D5200 out, you should be able to get a good deal on the D5100

It's a nice upper entry level camera. I have the D5000 and have been very pleased with it.

It is a great camera, period. It is great for human subjects and indoor photography too compared to its peers. However, if you are into outdoor or action photography consider Canons too, especially T3i or 60D.

I have one and really like it, much improved over my old D40. With the 5200 out, you can get a 5100 for $499, which is a super bargain.
