First off, I understand camcorders are best for filming that a Digital SLR, but my interest is both Photography and Videography, so I went with could benefit me both. At the time, I only had enough money for an entry level DSLR, the Nikon D3200. My style of film is cinematic, and my inspirations are vigilante/ superheroes type show. Even romance. For me, my best interest is to have as little noise as possible, and as happy as I was with my kit Lens, I've been taking interest in a Nikon 50mm Len. Is that a good choice, and if so, which model specifically. I'm also torn between Auto or Manual focus. I know it's all on preference but I'd love to hear your opinions on which you prefer.

The lenses you use when using a digital SLR camera to shoot video is dictated by your script and the lenses needed to shoot each scene.

I have posted a link to a video shot using an older Nikon D7000. At the end of the video, there are four lenses listed used just for this script.

What is NOT mentioned is all the lighting gear used to provide enough light so the video shows little or no noise. Adding light is the only way to assure that your video is shot using low ISO settings of from 200 to 800. ISO settings higher than that will produce far too much noise.

Can we assume that you have a very fast computer with at least 12 gb of RAM and some large, fast hard drives so editing does not become an issue? And of course a good non-linear video editing program?

NOTE: When shooting video, using a digital SLR camera, you are going to most always manually focus each shot. Digital SLR cameras do not auto focus well when in the "live view" mode if at all. For this, you will also need a good LCD loupe so you can critically focus your scenes
