Small slr nikon camera?

Does/has nikon made a camera body that is an slr but doesn't use film (saves photos onto a memory card)? I'm looking into buying a smaller, more portable slr but i take a lot of junk pictures and it would be so wasteful if i had to use film.

thank you!

Added (1). Hmm, i have a d3100 right now, but i was wondering if they made anything smaller? Maybe around the size of an MILC but with lesser functions (aka less expensive, i'm an amateur so i would prefer convenience over function). Do you know if there are any older models like that?

The Nikon entry level DSLRs are smaller than their professional grade cameras… Http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?Ns=p_PRICE_2%7C0&ci=6222&N=4288586280+4291315846&srtclk=sort

The best thing to do is visit an actual camera shop (not bestbuy/walmart) and try the different models within the budget to see which feels the best to you. I bought a Canon for its ergonomics/feel/menu and control layout and a fellow photog chose Nikon for the same reason… It is about personal preference. PLUS, a decent camera shop will have the knowledge/experience to answer your questions (I was asking a bestbuy "specialist" some mid-level" camera questions only to be told "Uhh… I'm sorry, I just transferred from TV's").

They're called dSLR's.

Smaller? You decide. They come in different sizes.
