Is the Nikon D7000 still good and not out of date?

So I have the D3100 for a year now with 3 lenses. Pretty much only shoot portraits. I plan on getting the D7000 body only and would be my last camera (not lens) since on not that "serious" about shooting, just a hobby.

The D7000 is an excellent camera and while there are later models it is far from out of date - I can strongly recommend it.

Yes it is, but maybe you should wait for the Nikon D7200, because the price of the D7100 & D7000 may drop! In fact, I've been searching a lot of the D7100 and it's perfect (for a DX camera). The D7000 it's great though.

That question made me smile.

D7000 out of date, never, it's a very capable tool and an absolute joy to work with. It's all the camera I need and more than likely probably more camera than what most people need.

If the camera does what you need it to do, and doesn't get in the way or prevent you from recording your vision, then it'll never be outdated. Every digital camera on the market is getting replaced 18-24 months.
