I wish to buy a new 'Nikon D3100'. I live in kochi
& yesterday i visited the 'Lulu Connect'
store, kochi. They have priced it @27500rs. As 'Zoomin.com'
has priced it much lessor, i wish to buy it from there.does
it comes with a genuine battery n charger n
otheraccessories… The sales guys@ Lulu
Connect told me that it is difficult to get
warranty when i buy it from online as the
product doesn't comes with the orginal billing
(something lyk that), is that correct…
Somebody please clarify all my doubts.

If you pick the right store. There's three that most of regulars here use: B&H, Amazon and Adorama.
I find I like Amazon and B&H best.

There are some 'unscrupulous' websites that are only interested in taking your cash and running… I buy on-line quite regularly and try to only deal with 'reputable' businesses that have good feedback or that I can associate with… If a price doesn't fit (seem right) then I would avoid it and buy from a trusted source… There's a grey import problem out there, and these products are supplied without the basic accessories, strap, battery, battery charger etc, and sometimes the specifications differ… The manufacturer/distributor in your region will not honour 'guarantees' or 'warranties'.

… In some cases when I might need specialised advice and have to approach a sales assistant or advisor in a local camera shop… Depending on how good the service is and the overall experience I would cough up the extra asked… The camera store is invaluable and it's always handy to have some kind of dealing with them… I much prefer being on their Christmas Card list and the benefits that come with that.

If you want to be certain of what you buy then buy from a local camera store. Buying at long distance may well not give you a good warranty, and you will probably not know until it arrives whether it includes a good battery charger. Expect to spend lots of time (and money) sorting it out after the camera has been delivered.

Three things are required to buy a DSLR from an on-line store.

1. You absolutely know what camera is best for you.
2. You absolutely know that the store is legitimate and has good customer service.
3. The store is an authorized Nikon retailer, otherwise you may have warranty issues.

Otherwise, you are at risk of a very expensive mistake.
