Added (1). i lost the wire that comes with the camera to connect to laptop but i found another random wire that also fits in the camera but it doesn't show up on my laptop do i need buy a new wire or can i use the one i found?
All the MacBook Airs I've used so far have an SD card slot on the side. If yours does, then just move the SD card from the camera (make sure camera is turned off during removal and reinstalling) and insert it into the slot.
Make sure that you eject it on the desktop before physically removing it from the slot or you might corrupt the card. To eject it use a two finger click on the SD card icon and then single finger click on "eject" or just drag the SD icon into the trashcan.
There are at present 4 different "pin outs" of USB connectors between cameras and computers.
But as mentioned, the best workflow is to remove the memory card from your computer and use the card reader to copy all your images from the card to the computer (preferably to a new file folder named for the subject/location and date so you can find the photos later… Years later)
