You're trying to choose between a DSLR and a bridge camera, Why not make up your mind which you want first.

They are two completely different cameras. The Nikon D3200 is a DSLR designed for taking quality still images and video as an after-thought, The Sony is a superzoom bridge camera with small sensor and very long-reach telephoto zoom lens.
To get a 1200mm (equivalent) telephoto on a DSLR will be very expensive indeed and involve teleconverters, hevay lenses and a tripod.

I'm almost certain the Sony Bridge Camera will be better for home use.

The modes in Sony are better than one in Nikon. Also they are explained. Nikon has modes like 'birthday party', 'wedding', etc. Which are for a amateur photographer. Both have great picture quality.

Usually birthday parties are at evening, modes are indoor, so 'birthday party' mode sets the camera to sense low light. But if you party has sufficient light or in daytime, then it will be a mess. Also Nikon overrides itself over user forcefully. Sony does what the user exactly want from the mode.

I have a Sony camera which has modes like 'Snow', 'Landscape'. The Snow mode enhances white color in the picture, which was written in the camera itself under that mode. So I used it to take pictures of the Palace which was freshly painted white completely. And used the landscape mode, to shoot the long cannon. I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain.

I would go for Sony.
