There a camera I want to buy, the Nikon D3300 and I have two options:

1, online which is $510 plus $50 delivery, total or $560

2, Physical store $600

There's a $40 difference which can buy me a lens filter. But what about warranty, I head Kogan does grey imports and does not have a Aus Nikon warranty. So is it worth buying in store or online?

Added (1). Also the store gives you more colors, red, grey, black. While only the black color is available online.

The warranty and the ability to look the manager in the eye, plus they may offer photography lessons for free or at a discount, says to me to go local.

Buy from the real camera store. No brainer.

Say: 'Now your price is about $100 more than I'd budgeted for buying on the internet from Kogan who were listing the camera at $X this morning, and that's eating into the reserve I was keeping for a second lens etc. I'm not sure… What's the best deal you can offer me so that I can come back sooner for accessories?'

Sounds like you answered your own question: Buy from the store.

Take the ad from Kogan into the physical store and ask if they can do price matching or give you discount on accessories. You're not just buying a camera and lens. You've got flashes, memory card(s), tripods, filters, bags, cleaning kit, and variety of other things to consider. Maybe they will give you a discount, maybe they'll price match or maybe both.

Buy from a reputable store near you.

Although you will get the same camera no matter where you buy it, service is what makes the difference. If you buy from your local store, you can run back to them for quick service. If you buy elsewhere, you will have to bring the camera back to where ever you bought the camera from for service. If you insist that you have your camera serviced at the local store, they will put you at the bottom of their list and charge you higher if not instruct you to send your camera to an international service center in another country.
