Best flash for portraits and other objects?
I have a Nikon D5000. I have just been using the automatic flash on my camera, but I want to improve the look of my portraits. I'm totally clueless about what flash to get and would like some advice. What flash do you guys use? Any tips?
Note: I may be covering a late afternoon wedding later this year, what would you suggest for this?
On-board flash or external flash mounted on the cameras hot shoe is probably the worst light for shooting portraits. For that you need a key, fill, hair and background light. That is four lights minimum
When shooting events, then an external flash like the SB700 with a diffuser and mounted on a flash bracket is a good choice. The bracket puts the flash up high and away from the lenses axis which is the cause of "redeye"
