Either read the answers left to the thousand others who've asked this question, or concede you're not ready for an SLR.

There are other manufacturers, all of whom did it before either Canon or Nikon, and if you want to boil it down to sales, Zenit have sold more SLRs than those two combined.

If you can't decide the answer to this yourself then buy a Sony SLT-A65 instead!

Look its all the same it depends on how you use it. None has nicer or sharper pictures. Canon t3, t2i and nikon D3100 are great for beginners.

Depends on the class. At the top end of the Semi Pro cameras, the Canon 7D is better than the Nikon D300s. However, your primary use of the camera could change the facts around. If you need a camera with the faster shutter speed then the D300s comes out on top. The Nikon might be the better option at the race track.

The Canon 7D is gonna beat the D300s when it comes to video. At the end of the day though, you can choose based on Looks alone as the differences could go unnoticed. If you were getting the camera primarily for video then I'd suggest canon.
