Tokina SZ-X 80-200mm Work With a Nikon d5300 for filming? - 1
Added (1). Is it Compatible
The camera won't even see it.
It WILL fit, but this old MF lens doesn't have an on-board computer chip (AF [manual focus on the D5300] and AF-S [full functionality] do.
Even a third-party motorised lens will be better than this, but you bought the wrong camera if you want to shoot video.
NO
The Tokina AT-X Pro 80-200 mm F/2.8 lens is a manual focus lens so the lightmeter in your entry level Nikon D5300 will not work
If you want to buy a used lens for your D5300, you will need a lens that is auto-focusing. But wait. When shooting video, you will need to manually focus your shots, just like the film makers do when using 35 mm motion picture cameras because trying to auto focus when in the movie mode (using the LCD screen) is very slow and will cause you to shoot many more takes for each scene in your script.
Look for lenses that are AF-S or AF compliant. With both lenses you will have to manually focus your scenes. With a AF-S lens, you can use the auto-focus when shooting still images
Besides that bad news, you are also going to have to budget for some other accessories in order to make your fine D5300 into a useable video camera. See the link below
IF it has a Nikon mount then yes, you can use it to shoot video.
