Nikon camera remove the static video?
Question about removing static while recording a video.
I bought an external mic which cost about $50, however it comes with so much static, and I just wanted something to remove the static and still keep my quality good.
Is there anything anyone recommends? To take the static sound off.
Computers are always running all sorts of processes in the background, they don't guarantee perfect sound.
You did not tell us which Nikon camera or which mic or what the conditions were when the audio was recorded. We can't hear what you hear.
Since Nikon point and shoot cameras and bridge cameras don't have a mic jack, it is assumed you used a dSLR.
If your camera has only automatic audio gain - or if it has manual audio gain but it was not used - AND the audio recorded was Really LOUD, then that static is because the automatic audio gain control was overwhelmed by the Really LOUD audio at the static is the audio "peaking". Resolution in the future: Use manual audio gain control properly.
If your camera's manual audio gain control was being used properly or if the audio was not Really LOUD, then the issues could be related to the cable, connection (at the camera or the mic), power supply (battery on being held securely if it is a condenser mic requiring power).
It is possible that the static if from something else, but with such little detail from you, the above are the generic items.
As for removing the static from the recorded audio - that can be challenging and depending on what the cause of the static, it may be impossible. Audacity has a good noise reduction feature that may be able to help…
