Nikon 18-105mm 3.5-5.6 VR?
Found one on craigslist for $120, but have to drive 100 miles round trip to get it. Worth it or not?
btw, i have hyundai elantra, get 42mpg highway.
It is an upgraded lens over the 18-55mm lenses, if that is what you currently have.
It is the standard kit lens for cameras such as the D80, D7000, etc.
Here is a review on the 18-105mm lens:

And a review on the 18-55mm lens:

You can see from the comparisons that the 18-55mm is slightly soft in the corner at 35mm, whereas the 18-105mm is sharp. This may be indicative of the lens construction or perhaps just the sample that was tested.
Here are the completed eBay listings (the ones that actually sold) for that lens so you can judge for yourself the current going price of the lens:

Only you can determine if the lens is for you.
From where I'm, that lens would cost more than double that price. From where I'm, a gallon of gasoline is around $4.
Optically, the 18-105mm is poorer than the 18-55mm. Flexibility-wise, it's better.
Worth it? It's all up to you.Me? No.
