What do these camera lenses do?

In layman's terms please. My friend is a skilled but amateur photographer and someone suggested these lenses. To avoid embarrassment of asking the suggester, I decided to ask here. The lenses are the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8 and the Nikkor 1.8 35mm and Nikkor 55-200mm.

My Nikon D5300 autofocus doesn't work, How to fix it?

Hi, I bought a Nikon 5300 last month and I noticed that the autofocus feature doesn't work. I have my lens switched to "A" and on the display to "Auto servo" and cleaned the metal contacts of the lens. The only way I could take a picture on "automatic" mode is to press AE-L/AF-L button on the back of the camera and it always looks blurry. By the way the lenses that I'm using are the Nikkor AF-S 18mm - 55mm that came with the camera. Oh to finish I noticed the problem now, because I always used the camera on manual mode since day 1

Is this lens worth $1000?

I've been struggling to decide if I should get a 1K lens.
I'm talking about the Nikon 24mm PC-E f/3.5D ED Tilt-Shift ( http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...ikkor.html )

I know it's worth more than 2K (new), but it seems a very specialized lens and you can find it used for roughly the same price.

So my question is? Why does the price of such lens drops that much?!

What are your thoughts on the Nikon 40mm f/2.8G AF-S DX Micro-Nikkor Lens?

I have the Nikon D7100 and want to upgrade to a prime micro lens and was considering this one. I would like something with a longer focal length but until I save up would this be a good start up lens for casual macro/portrait/landscape? And are there any links to sample photos with the D7100 with this lens?

Is the Nikkor 18-200 a step up from the Nikkor 18-55 and 55-200 VR 1?

Do you get a lot of distortion? Is it a good idea
Or should I get different lenses?
For a Nikon d7100 body.

What's the deference between this camera and an iPhone camera?

http://www.flipkart.com/...attachment

I'm not a pro-photographer, just a "wannabe". If I get this camera, apart from the "style" factor, will it take noticeably better pictures than my iPhone camera? What exactly is the difference? I've heard the "megapixel count" doesn't matter unless you're going to enlarge photos to poster size.

Added (1). If this does take noticeably better pictures, I'd order it right away, please help.
Also, if you recommend this over the iPhone camera for everyday hobby photography, let me know which "lens attachment" shall I choose. There are so many choices, and I don't have any idea.

Added (2). Thank you fhotoace, very informative answer.
I'm all for learning new things, could you please take a look at the link and help me choose a lens in the "select lens attachment" menu? I'll use this to click nature nictures (forests, waterbodies, mountains, birds, etc).
Feeling excited already.

What lens should a get for my Nikon d7100?

I'm getting a Nikon d7100 soon and want to replace my current lenses I have a Nikon 18-55 VR and a Nikon 55-200 VR. I'm getting a Nikon 50mm f1.8d as well! So what could replace my 18-55 and 55-200?
I don't want to spend to much and only want Nikkor lenses! And I'm a plane spotter so I need the zoom. What do you think?
Maybe the 18-200 or the 18-140 and 70-300 VR?
Let me know!

Advise on camera lenses for Nikon DX?

I'm just getting into photography. I plan on getting a Nikon D5500 (body only). I have £400 to spend on lenses.

I want to shoot street photography, mostly in lowlight conditions. Because of that I've decided that I'm going for the Nikkor 35mm f/1.8 no mater what. They cost around £150, leaving me with £250 for another lens. I want to go for a telephoto/zoom lens for travelling or just daily usage. I'm siding towards the Nikkor 55-200mm lens or the 55-300mm. Is a 35mm and a 55-200mm a good range?

I also want to get into landscape and cityscape photography. I want to get a super wide angle lens for that but that will have to wait because of the price. Is the 35mm on a crop sensor wide enough or would something like an 18mm be better? If it isn't wide enough then should I go for an "all in one" zoom lens instead of the 55-200?

How do these lenses compare with each other in terms of image quality, chromatic aberration, etc…

Nikon 18-140 f/3.5-5.6 ED VR
Sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 DC
Sigma 18-250 f/3.5-6.3 DC
Tamron 18-200 Di ii VC
Tamron 18-270 f/3.5-6.3

Keep in mind I only have roughly £250 to spend on one!
