I bought a Nikon 40 dx in 2008 and am thinking of buying a 28-200 lens?

The lens is not cheap and I wonder if upgrading to a newer model Nikon be a better use of the money

You lens will last you a long timeā¦ Several camera bodies. The D40 is still a good camera.

The new and old versions of the 28-200 do not have built in auto-focus motors, so you won't have AF with either. You're better off with an 18-200 or 18-135.
