Could not complete your request because of a disk error?

I just purchased a used Nikon D700 that came with a 16GB memory card. After snapping some photos to test it out and uploading to Bridge most of the photos came out but about 25-30 out of 150 photos won't load. And when I try to open them in Photoshop it says, "Could not complete your request because of a disk error." Is the camera damaged or the memory card?

Two alternatives.

1. Use your Windows file manager to access the camera then copy / paste to the folder of your choice. Stay away from Photo Shop - you can load to Photo Shop from any file or folder.

2. Buy a usb card reader. I've been using them for years. Windows will see a reader as an external drive. Copy / paste to your favorite folder / file.

Did you format the card before using it for the first time? You should also format it every time you offload photos to your computer.

Otherwise, Jim's suggestions should help.

Make sure you copy them to your computer before opening them.

It could be that some photos got encrypted, which is why you should have formatted your memory while in the camera before taking any photos.

Photoshop could be having a not enough RAM case, which is why you need to open photos in photoshop one by one, that's preferably because note that most of your photos will be of a very high resolution considering the camera you are using.
