What lenses are worth the money for a Nikon D3100?

I do a lot of nature of all kinds, animals, people and BMX/Skate photos.
I was using a borrowed rebel T2i but switch to Nikon, just a better fit.
I'm looking for a telephoto lens, a fish-eye lens and a wide angle.
Any links or brands that carry such at reasonable prices would be great!

If you want to save money on lenses. You should get 3rd party lenses such as sigma and tamron. The only problem based on many reviews is. Quality control. There are bad copies of lenses out there. It will be unfortunate if you receive one, but if you receive a good copy then good for you.

Regarding 3rd party lenses I would advise buying them from authorized dealers that way you can always bring it for warranty repair.

The Rule of Thumb is to buy lenses from the same brand as your camera for absolute compatibility. Generally, they have better quality too as compared to third-party brands. Visit http://bhphotovideo.com/...ovideo.com to windowshop for currently available models.

If you're using an 18-55mm, you don't need to spend money on a wide-angle, 18mm is plenty.

Screw- on Fisheye adapters are worthless, the cheapest true fisheye lens is the Samyang 8mm f3.5 and it's all-mechanical - not a good lens for a beginner and expensive for the little use it will see. The Nikon version costs ten times as much.

For telephoto, I'd suggest something in the 55-200/300mm range (I like the Sigma 55-200 in Canon mount, but it has its critics ), price a few and then find a dealer who'll let you handle a couple of candidates within your budget.

You can consider buying this Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro Telephoto Zoom Lens I wanted a cheap telephoto lens for those times I need the reach. Since I don't use it that often, I felt no need for a large or expensive lens. I debated between this lens, the Tamron 70-300 Di, and the Sigma APO of the same type. This was the cheapest so I went with it. Frankly, I can't believe how good this lens is for its price. At 70mm, it's tack sharp corner to corner. Even 200-300 it's quite good. And the Macro mode is just icing on the cake--1:2 magnification means you can get quite close.
