Problems uploading RAW files to computer using new Nikon D7000 camera?

I currently used Photoshop CS4 and I just purchased Nikon D7000 camera. I took my first set of pictures using the combo RAW and JPEG formats. Only the JPEG format files are downloading on my computer hard drive and NOT the RAW files.

Are you sure? Do you have software that reads RAW files? If not you won't see them. If CS4, and I don't know this, doesn't see RAW files then as far as the computer is concerned, they aren't there.
Do some closer looking in your software.

You should be copying all the image files from your memory card using the file manager and a card reader.

To process RAW files, you need CS5 if you wish to process the RAW files from a D7000

Or you can buy Adobe Lightroom 3 (what photographers use to process RAW files in batches).

You need to download the free Camera Raw 6.6 from Adobe, but it probably will not work on CS4

As fhotoace says, you need PS CS5 or Lightroom 3 in order to read the D7000's raws.

However, Nikon has their own ViewNX 2 software which you can use to convert your NEF raws to 16-bit TIFF, which can be read by any version of Photoshop:

On the same page, you can also download the NEF codec that lets Windows show you thumbnails in Explorer and view in Picture Viewer.

Use a USB card reader to connect the camera's memory card directly to the computer's USB slot then use Windows Explorer or Mac Finder to do the actual copying for total control of what goes where exactly.

To view RAW files, you will need to install the program that came with the camera's companion CD.
