How is the zoom on a SIGMA AFs 70-300mm F4/5.6 DG LENS FOR NIKON D3000-D5000?

I need a lens that has good zoom capability. Manual/auto doesn't matter. I work with manual anyway.

I don't usually go with off brand lenses for my Nikon. But I know of a good site called lenshero.com that helps me with my next purchase. Just start by entering you camera's body (Nikon D5000) then the type of lens you want to buy (Telephoto) You can also enter other items your interested in like, Price range and Auto focus feature. Not only do they have a complete list of Nikon lenses but they also promote Sigma, Tamaron, Lensbaby and others as well… The also partner with Amazon, BH and other sites to give you a lot of customer reviews. The best part about this site, ITS So SIMPLE TO USE. Sorry I couldn't give you my honest review of the Sigma lens 70-300 mm. But if you were to buy a Telephoto lens I'd go with something a bit bigger, you'll find that the 300mm will leave you wanting, especially in nature photography…

I have that lens and it's gathering dust on my self. The reason is its lack of image stabilization, which makes a slow telephoto lens like this very problematic to use handheld in anything but bright sunlight.

I'd definitely recommend getting the Nikkor 55-200mm VR or 55-300mm VR instead. I got the former and use it exclusively, i don't even consider putting on that sigma lens anymore.

Dude, I would recommend you to close your eyes and buy this lens, because this lens will surely going to give you the best you want, I'm personally using it for my Nikon Dslr, It is a good companion for action photography, sports, wildlife and ceremonies etc,
will suggest you to buy it from microglobe, or call them for more information, very good rates with excellent service… Happy buying.
