Okay for a long time i've been debating about getting dslr… And i thought i loved regular photography… Well turns out i absolutely hate taking pics of people and landscapes and crap… My true passion is with micro-photography and especially astro-photography… Now as far as micro goes, i know what I need to get to do a fine job… But I in the dark as far as astro goes.

I know i need a decent telescope (would love some tips on which one I need… Please nothing over $500 (i know that's not a lot for a really nice one, but just something for beginners and what-not… Maybe i'll go up to $800 if its really good)

secondly i need a mount for the camera (guessing at this point)… And boom there i have it?

I need some help as to what I need to get the process done… And where I can find it, and how much…

Can't really help on the telescope side of things - my son has a Celestron, but I'm not up on current models. What you will need is a T mount (mounts the camera to the telescope) and an adapter (model specific) so that the T mount fits to the camera body.

You also need a telescope that has a motor driven head on the tripod. Most deeper nebulae or faint starts need a fairly long exposure to register on the sensor. Due to the rotation of the Earth, these will tend to 'streak out' & form light trails during a long exposure. A motor drive effectively 'tracks' the object and moves the 'scope so that it remains in the viewfinder during the exposure.
