Does vaseline work to fix scratches on screens? If not, what does?
I let my friend burrow my Nikon d5100 camera (big mistake) and she got the screen (not the lens, the viewing screen) COVERED in scratches. They're these weird, short but kind of deep scratches all over the screen. If I rub my nail lightly across the screen, I can feel them.
Does the vaseline trick work? If not, what can I do to get these annoying scratches out? They're driving me insane!
1) Call Nikon at 1-800-NIKON-UX (1-800-645-6689) to make arrangements to get a repair estimate from either Nikon or a local Nikon authorized repair center).
2) Inform your friend if the repair cost (and that is was HER responsibility to return your camera in the same shape she received it)
3) After the LCD screen is replaced, make sure that you put a protective cover on it to protect it. I buy whatever packs of LCD covers are on sale and cut them to fit http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...ector.html. OR… Use a cover like http://www.bhphotovideo.com/...ector.html
How could vaseline possibly work for that?
Vaseline can be smeared on the filter on the front of the lens to make the image soft. It can't fix scratches on the LCD. It can soften and eliminate scratches on the skin.
To take scratches out of the LCD, ask Nikon.
