Does the Nikon D5100 record video?

I feel like this is a stupid question, but I've been planning on buying a D5100 for my short movies and stuff. But recently, I was messing around with one of the D5100's they have set out at the mall and couldn't find the video option anywhere. Is it one of the settings that I may have possibly overlooked?

Also, could you possibly recommend me a more professional camera that isn't a DSLR? I'm looking for one that is strictly film instead of multipurpose like a Nikon.

Yes it can shoot video, but not motion picture. Do you know the difference?

The next camera up from the D5100 is the Nikon D7000

Here is how the D7000 produces video using a good script

If you are looking for a video recording then I would suggest you to buy flip mino HD.
DSLR's are mainly used for still photography and it is best used in that way only. Also DSLR's can't shoot videos for long time.
Flip Mino is small and you can carry easily.
