Anyone have the Nikon d3000?
- is it worth £305?
please take in mind, i'm a beginner. I don't want a fancy, hard to work, really confusing camera!
also, if i bought it on amazon, would it come with anything? Like a case?
This is an online demo of the d3000 http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d3000/index.html
I'll let you be the judge of whether it's hard to work and confusing. Like with any DSLR it requires some basic photography knowledge and a lot of practice to make it perform.
If you buy a low-end nikon like this it usually comes as a kit. That contains the body, the lens, a battery, a charger, the manual and a strap. You need to add:
- SD memory card, get an 8gb class 6 or better
- bag
- rocket blower
- microfiber cloth
I would strongly advise a card reader as well.
It's worth 304 quid. However, 120 more buys you a d3100 and that is all around a much improved camera.
Jeron has the best advice for you. I just want to add some to it…
Don't get sucked into the kits on amazon that have all of these extra "lenses" and gadgets in them. The stuff thrown in there's designed to suck you into them. They are poor quality at best. FUN, but not anything of decent quality that will last you. If you need help evaluating a kit you find, ask the question here. There are always people around to help you out.
If you find one of those kits and it only adds maybe $40 or less on to your kit? It's might be worth it. The gadgets are fun and there are a couple of useful things in them.
Look specifically for anything from Adorama or B & H Photo/Video. Or even use their websites.
Any DSLR is going to be a bit confusing if you want to use it to it's potential. The D3000 series and D5000 series have a program in them to assist you as you are learning. They are a great option for a very beginner.
Jeron urges you to go the D3100 because of the great upgrades that have occurred. I'm going to urge you even a bit higher. If AT All POSSIBLE, I'd go for the D5100.It's just an all around better camera.
