Do you need a separate meter to shoot with a dslr back in a 4x5 camera?
I'm going digital and will be shooting with a nikon dslr back with a horseman using a convertor. Will i need to use my light meter still or can i leave it behind?
The meter in the DSLR may or may not work.
Modern DSLR light meters rely on data from the lens, which it will not have with the converter.
However, in most cases, you should be able to get an accurate reading without it. Keep in mind that if you change the f-stop of the lens, you will need to take another meter reading.
Also, you can always just shoot a sample image and look at the histogram to check for exposure.
I agree that you will have digital, … Just look at the result and adjust as needed.
I would suggest a light meter anyway, no matter what you shoot. You do not have to spend a fortune on one that will give you accurate results with an easy to use tool.
Here is what works perfect for me:
- Nikon d5000 will meter with all the lenses which nikon d90 can meter.m i right?
- Meter app in my mobile VS Nikon fm2 meter. Which one should i trust?
- I'm trying to buy a camera, the lens come separate, would these work together?
- Do I put my camera in a separate bin at airport security?
- Why does my Nikon d5100 meter but refuse to shoot indoors?
