Camera similar to Nikon FM10?

I'm looking for an SLR that is as good or even better than the Nikon FM10, but for a cheaper price. I love shooting film, and am looking for a starter SLR!

A used nikon FM or FE. Can be picked up for peanuts with an excellent 50mm f1.8E lens.

Currently available unused with a Pentax K mount, fully mechanical except for metering is the Promaster 2500PK Super

There are also some Russian film SLR's, but these are often troublesome.
