I have seen a lot of photography books on Amazon on how to use and get the most of the Nikon D7100 ("Mastering the D7100" Nikon D7100 for dummies etc) but would they tell me more than the manual?

i already know what all the buttons do

so should i pick up one of those books or just stick with the owners manual?

The manual only tells you how to use the features of the phone, how to hold id and what accessories can be used with it.

The photography books on Amazon will help you understand the fundamentals of photography as well as give you some guidelines on how to compost your images.

There are also photography books sold on Amazon that cover specific techniques, like studio lighting, techniques for creating amazing images, etc.

Just type in "photography books" and you will see a whole listing of available books on photography

Yes it would tell you more than the manual. These photography guides often have guided projects, or describe how you can achieve specific shots - going into more far more detail about things such as compostion, exposure and so on.

The manual just tells you the basic facts on how operate the camera.

The books will go into more detail and explain how the buttons affect the picture and under what conditions to use the various settings.

Yes, a good book will do a lot for you that the owner's manual will not. You do not need another book targeted at your specific camera, in fact, I think that only bogs down into camera details rather than actually teaching you better photography.

Your owner's manual shows you all the how and what of the camera, use a book next that will go beyond that. Here is one I suggest often:
