Worth it to upgrade by dslr?

So i've gotten a lot more interested in photography lately. As of right now, I have a nikon d70s, which is by no means a bad camera, but still could be better. Is it worth it to sell what I have, and buy a new, better one? It seems that the d70s has a lot of limitations, and is an aging camera.

Absolutely, but keep in my mind it isn't the expensive camera which takes better photos, it's the lenses. Canon tends to have the more economic cameras, they offer a lot more creative freedom as a photographer but lack the in camera photo editing the more expensive nikons have. Nikons by experts are said to be the superior camera but, this is when you're taking standard shots of people or still backgrounds. It has an in camera editing program which edits your photos when you take them. This also means that it severely limits your creativeness with your camera. Overall, canons are more economical and offer more freedom with photography but you really have to know what you're doing. Nikons are a bit more expensive and take better photos if you're not looking to do anything cool or fancy with your shots. (BTW: a good photographer is based off the person, note the equipment, my friend bought a brand new $800 nikon but she doesn't know the ins and outs of photography so although her people shots are gorgeous the can't do anything else; I'm using one of the first $200 canon rebels and I have just about mastered my camera to the point where I can begin manipulating color shades and hues in photos, don't want to brag but my photography range is much wider than hers and my shot quality is still better with a 5 year older and $600 cheaper camera and lens combo). The trick to mastering your style of photography is also mastering your technique and camera, good luck.

I don't know what limitations you are thinking about. There's NOTHING I can't photograph with my elderly Nikon D100, heck even my F4, that I can't shoot using my D300.

Here is a sample image shot using the even older Nikon D100.html

That said, if you wish to upgrade to one of the newer Nikon's that uses CF cards. To do that you may want to buy a good used D200 or D300. All the new entry level cameras use SD cards now, so if you don't mind buying new cards, then look at the D90 or D7000. The can use your legacy Nikkor AF lenses
