Why does Nikon use uc-e6 cables?

They are the USB direct connection from camera to a computer or printer.
Most of us actually remove our memory cards and copy all the images to our computer using a card reader. It is faster and we do not have to depend upon the batteries in the camera to supply power during the copying process.
