Which point-and-shoot camera do you suggest?

I've looked into both the Canon ELPH110 HS and the Canon powershot sx280; however if anyone has any other suggestions that are $350 or lower, please send them my way.

And brand name does not matter to me. I own a Nikon DSLR but enjoy using my dad's Canon. Any recommendations are welcome!

Personally, I recommend the Nikon COOLPIX S9500
It has a 18.1-megapixel low-light CMOS sensor which i think is excellent and allows this camera, not only to shoot awesome images in good lighting, but also in low- light conditions. It's 22x zoom is also very good and that which you will find very useful when taking photos or videos from in the distance. This camera also has built in wi-fi which allows you to upload your images or videos to social networks like facebook, twitter, etc, instantly.
The COOLPIX S9500 is sold for in the $279 price margin, but amazon has a special bundle for $329
http://www.amazon.com/...00BLQ9P1W/ This bundle comes with a number of accessories that I know you will need, such as a 32 GB SD Card, replacement battery, charger, memory card reader, USB cable, storage case, tripod stand etc.
That I think is a great deal.

I think the Powershot SX280 HS makes a very good choice of compact camera. It has 20x optical zoom and 12.1MP, which is good… Because less (not more MP) means better image quality/less noise in a camera with a small image sensor. However, it's better than a point and shoot because it also has full manual controls. It also has built-in Wi-fi and GPS if you need them.

Sorry Techno, but the Nikon S9500 produces worse image quality than the SX280 HS. It has poorer ISO capability and that's because it has more MP (18MP is far too many on a tiny image sensor).

Water, sand, dust, cold, weather, crush, and shockproof plus it can dive to 45 feet underwater. Great optics too and easy to use.

Since you are already using a DSLR, you might have searched and looked for the features of these point and shoot cams. I recommend Canon Powershot sx280 due to its sustained performance and its results. Image quality is great as compared to 110HS.
Here is what professionals say about SX280:

http://www.amazon.com/...MP588AW42/

It is a 12.1 MP CMOS Digital Camera with 20x Image Stabilized Zoom 25mm Wide-Angle Lens and 1080p Full-HD Video.
SX280 has in camera HDR which combines multiple exposures to capture high dynamic range
It has a built in GPS which automatically geotags your photos when traveling
SX280 has a20X zoom which is 16x more than 110HS
The SX280 HS's maximum light sensitivity is 1 f-stop better (6400 ISO)

On the other hand, 110HS has more wide angle and aperture than SX280
