Well, you can't really do a feud between Canon vs Nikon. The cameras they have to offer are both good for different things. For example, a CANON camera would be better for shooting landscapes, whereas a NIKON would be better for shooting portraits. I'm not saying this is the case; just giving you an example.

The Pentax K500 or K50 will be best at your price range: Image stabilization and weather/dust proof and good video too.

Gandolphi with a known uber-lens on a panel; it will earn in appreciation more than you do, and Ansell & chums haven't had their pictures surpassed yet.
Of course, it needs a little expertise and learning curve, that's called artesian satisfaction.

The best camera in the Digital Single Lens Reflex area is in my opinion is the Pentax. I found the Canon & Nikon just too phyisically large and not anywhere as comfortable to hold and see through. The compliment of lenses that Pentax produces also influenced me. But I think that the stabilization being built into the body of Pentax DSLR's and how this makes the older lenses (which can be had at most reasonable prices) usable on any current Pentax DSLR the most important factor! My house is filled with mainly 11x14, some 16x20 and two 20x2 which is a testament of the quality of Pentax and their lenses!

Canon, Nikon, Sony Pentax - no one is better than the others. Buy the one that you like best and/or gives the best deal.

Canon and Nikon are the same. They happen to be just the most popular.

Hasselblad is best at 42,000USD.

Anyone who thinks there are only 2 brands of photography cameras (I'm unaware of any "non photography" cameras) is nowhere near being ready to make a purchase.

Probably the best DSLR in your price range is the Nikon D5200.

Stick to crayons, you don't know enough about cameras if you can't see beyond those two.
