The Nikkor 14-24 mm lens is made for the full frame Nikon cameras, but will work just fine on any of the digital SLR cameras made by Nikon.

Get the D800 used for the best price, but the newer D810 doesn't have the issues of the D800.
You won't get the most out of the 14-24 with a 12-24MP camera compared to the 36MP of the D810.
If you want to spend the least on the D810, buying a gray-market version off eBay is your best bet - but caveat emptor!
