I have the Nikon coolplix s7000 and one of the resolution for filming video is 1080/50p and the other one is 1080/50i Which one is clearer and sharper? Could you please explain what 50p and 50i are?

The "P" stands for progressive scan, the way modern televisions and computer monitors produce the images.

The "I" stands for interlaced, the way old CRT television and computer monitors display their images

That should tell you that the progressive mode would be the one used most by current image output devices

The resolution of each is the same, 1080 lines.

The difference is in the 50p and 50i. In some rapidly changing scenes the 50i will not keep up with the action, and you can see some smears. 50p is the better display method.
